Keys, Please: Sage Cottage in Venice, CA

Maybe it’s the Type A person in me but one of the things I find most satisfying in both a professional and personal context is putting something on a list and crossing it off when it is completed. Sometimes it’s the only way I can get something done, but other times it’s the joy of feeling that I’m bringing something to life that was long awaited and planned for. Sage Cottage fell into that category as it was sitting on my wishlist and I finally found the perfect time and availability to book it. The guest studio is located in the lush backyard of a 1920’s bungalow in the Venice neighborhood in Los Angeles and is only a few blocks from Abbot Kinney with all of the cute shops and restaurants. The space has great natural light and the design is calm and grounded with neutral tones throughout, even the sponge was brown and white which I appreciated. While we didn’t need to use the kitchenette it has a Chemex for morning coffee, plates and bowls from Jenni Kayne and Caraway pots and pans should you need to fix up something to eat. I spent my days working on the wooden patio set outside and in between emails said hello to the friendly indoor/outdoor cat George. I’m happy to have crossed this one off the list, but excited to return on future LA trips!
