Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat, France
48 Hours at The Iconic and Elegant Grand-Hotel du Cap Ferrat
We only spent approximately two full days and nights in the tiny town of Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat, but the stay was so spectacular it is still worth a recap.
When planning this part of the trip it was supposed to be the most sentimental as it was to celebrate our anniversary. It still was, but with an unexpected twist as one of us endured a now humorous-but-then-painful bout of food poisoning the night before our flight from Orly to Nice. We still made it and enjoyed the glamorous Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, just at a very slow pace.
This Four Seasons property is a landmark in the South of France and we soaked up every inch of it. We ordered Aperol Spritzes poolside with a view of the Mediterranean, spent some time in the spa quarters and indulged in room service and champagne for dinner. Overall it was just the restoration that we both needed.
With our short stay we mostly kept to the hotel grounds for meals but the picturesque peninsula of Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat is worth taking a few walks around. The residential neighborhood is peaceful and you can grab a glass of rose at a few waterfront establishments. On one of our strolls we saw a few painters capturing the landscape at the beach, bottling up the perfectly serene sights.
